So I've had my seminar. It wasn't really anything I didn't already know as I've been googling and they had sent an info booklet with the appointment letter. There were some stats about the safety of the operation (it's safe!) that weren't in the booklet but otherwise it was just a general run-down on what each operation was, the benefits, and the negatives. I'm very comfortable with my decision to have a duodenal switch operation rather than the gastric bypass now, in part because I do have a large amount of weight to lose and will have better results with a DS than the GB.
Meanwhile, I now have a date to see the surgeon in approx 1 months time. Hopefully I'll have lost enough weight by then to go straight onto the surgical waiting list (approx 3 months) but it's a bit harder not know how much I actually need to lose before I can qualify. I have lost some weight, not really certain how much but my scales at home have been going down so that's good. Really all I'm doing at this stage is eating better (less takeaways!) and drinking more water. I have cut down on the cups of tea a bit too as I won't be allowed to drink them soon. I find it strange to wrap my brain around the fact that I'm not dieting, i'm just eating healthy foods... aka, normal food.
Breakfast is 2 weetbix (breakfast wheat biscuits) with 1/2 teaspoon of white sugar and some trim milk. Of course this also needs to be eaten with a teaspoon and you're meant to chew 20-30 times per mouthful but that's harder when the food turns to mush almost instantly!
Lunch is generally a fish fillet from the supermarket freezer section. I've started with some crumbed ones for flavour but will re-evaluate this later. I also have 1 cup of mixed peas and corn. We have some leftover ham from a family event though so I might have sandwiches today instead of the fish.
Dinner this week will be roast chicken and more vegetables if I can find room in the fridge to put the chicken!
Another thing I really need to do is go through all my clothes. I've kept pretty much everything from the past 10 years (unless it's fallen to pieces) whether it's too large for me or too small. All the large clothes are stretched though rather than having me shrink out of them. Regardless, I need to throw away the big stuff and sort the small stuff into sizes so I'll be able to wear them after the surgery without having to go hunting!
