Blogging is not my strong point!

I thought it had only been a couple of months since I last posted.... I guess I was right if your definition of a couple is 10 months!

So the year in review. I went back to work for about 6 months (same place as before) on another temporary contract. That made dieting and weight loss pretty much impossible so I ended up gaining weight again.

The day after my contract ended we went out and bought a miniature schnauzer puppy who we've named Holly - after the car in Cars 2, Holly Shiftwell. I guess that is to be expected when you've got a 6yo son!

As it turns out, Holly had eaten some stones (a decent sized piece of gravel plus one or two smaller pieces) immediately before we got her (although we didn't know that at the time) so was very unhappy. She would just lie around all day not doing anything other than sleeping and barely eating. We decided to take her to the vet on day 2-3 and right after we made that decision she started vomiting. It took a few days and MANY vet appointments to get everything sorted but we're mostly there now. Turns out she does still have a sensitive tummy but this will hopefully resolve with time.

Unfortunately for me, this all coincided with me not being in a very good place mentally. I think I was just burnt out from working long hours and the stress that went with it. In an ideal world we'd have had a wee bit of a holiday but it's just not an option for us. As a result of my burn-out combined with a dog who had seemingly forgotten how to dog, I ended up having a bit of a breakdown. Simple things would set me off and I'd be a wreck for the whole day unless my husband was home to help (which he did end up doing. He took a week off work to look after me). I also went to our family doctor and got some additional help from there. Things are much better now but it's still a big relief when DH gets home for the evening.

On the crochet front, I'm currently working on a little cot blanket from Simply Crochet magazine, issue 8. The squares are coming up a bit smaller than the magazine specifies they should be so I'm making it an extra row wide and long. It wont fully make up for the lost cm's but will definitely help.

That will do for now. Will do another post later with pictures etc.
