Well, long time no post (again)! I was working as maternity leave cover, quietly hoping to be able to stay on but doors were closed on that plan. But, amazingly enough, the day after I was told that I'd be leaving some cheap flights from Auckland (where we live) came up to LAX. We were planning on going to America anyway to visit my sister and her husband but the plan was to go towards San Francisco rather than LA. We couldn't turn a blind eye to half price flights though so before we knew it we were saying goodbye to my job and jumping on a plane!
Yes. That plane ride. I've had bad flights before, being pushed down by the force of a plane flying only 200m above you is enough to jolt anyone into reality but THIS flight was something else entirely. Right from the word Go we had turbulence. Not just the regular random bump either, this was "grab the seat in front of you and hold on for dear life" kind of stuff. I admit, there were tears and prayers going on (all from me, Mr5 didn't seem to notice that the plane was being thrown around). Needless to say, we were quite happy to get our feet on solid ground.
The rest of the trip would be too much to get through in one blog post, despite "only" being 8 days. If I had to briefly sum it up in a few words I'd have to say it was definitely an experience.
For now though I need to adjust to this new life I've landed in. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do with it just yet, although I do have a couple of ideas I'm thinking about! More on those as (or if) they happen.
And now, a word from our sponsors....
